This ordinance amends the Residential Dumpster rental fee. Effective January 1, 2013, residential dumpsters may be rented on a weekly basis. Cost is $50.00 per week and must be prepaid. Please contact City Hall (319)342-3396 to schedule a dumpster.
ORDINANCE NO. 472
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 106, SECTION 08
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE CITY, IOWA,
PERTAINING TO SOLID WASTE AND RECYCLING COLLECTION FEES
BE IT ENACTED by the City Council of the City of La Porte City, Iowa:
SECTION 1. SECTION REPEALED AND REPLACED. The Code of Ordinances of the City of La Porte City, Iowa, is hereby amended by deleting the existing Chapter 106, Section 08 and adopting the following new Chapter 106, Section 08 in lieu thereof:
106.08 COLLECTION FEES. The collection and disposal of solid waste and recyclable materials as provided by this chapter are declared to be beneficial to the property served or eligible to be served and there shall be levied and collected fees therefor as follows:
Dumpster – Monthly Rental
Commercial Rental: $7.50 per month per dumpster
1 dump per week $15.00 per month per dumpster
2 dumps per week $30.00 per month per dumpster
3 dumps per week $45.00 per month per dumpster
Commercial Businesses Without Dumpsters:
1 pickup per week $12.00 per month (2 cans or 4 bags)
2 pickup per week $17.00 per month
3 pickup per week $23.00 per month
Other Residential Services:
Dumpster Rental $50.00/week (3 dumps)
(effective 1/1/2013)
Garbage – Excess Bags/Cans
Sticker for each additional container over limit $1.00 each
Garbage – Extra Item
Large Items (mattress, furniture etc..) $10.00 per item
Appliance (stove, fridge, microwave…) $20.00 per item
Garbage – Monthly Curbside
Single family residence $12.00 per month
Each dwelling unit of a multiple family dwelling $12.00 per month
Recycling
Single Family Residence $2.50
Each Dwelling Unit of Multiple Family Dwelling $2.50
Commercial Businesses without a Recycling Dumpster $2.50
SECTION 2. REPEALER. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. If any section, provision or part of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole, or any section, provision or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 4. WHEN EFFECTIVE. This ordinance shall be in effect from and after its final passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
