Summer Reading at Hawkins Library

Send your kids to the library for reading time this summer. Children kindergarten through 5th grade can read aloud individually or in small groups with library volunteers, to help retain and improve their reading skills over the summer. Succeeding with Reading gives K-5th graders a chance to practice their reading skills by reading on a regular basis while school is out. Sign up for Monday and Thursday afternoon sessions each week. Time slots are: Kindergarten and 1st graders read 2:30 to 3 PM; 2nd and 3rd graders read 3 to 3:30 PM; and 4th and 5th graders read 3:30 to 4 PM. Interesting books and creative literacy activities make this a fun learning time. Contact Hawkins Memorial Library at (319) 342-3025, or stop in to schedule your child’s reading days.
